ConstructSim Work Package Server Help

To Create a Configuration Based User Defined Group

Only a person with Administrator rights can create user defined groups. All Configuration-Based User Defined groups created through the ConstructSim Work Package Server web portal are read-only in the ConstructSim Planner client and cannot be edited.
  1. From the ConstructSim Work Package Server home page, Project info panel, click User defined groups. The User defined groups window opens and displays a list of user defined groups already populated with data that was imported through data processing.
  2. In the User defined groups window, click Create new group.
  3. In the window that opens, give a Name (for example, Material-BoreSize) to the new user defined group and select a Type, either Container or Parametric. Container is the root node (title) given to the user defined group.
If you select Parametric, additional fields display.
  4. In the Parent field, select the Container you want to assign to the query (for example, Material-BoreSize) and in the Objects field, select the discipline (for example, Piping).
  5. Click Save.
  6. In the list of user defined groups, find the new group (Material-BoreSize) and click the + left of the name. In the section that opens below, you see the name of the query you created.
  7. Click the query name (for example, ByMaterial&BoreSize). A new window opens with an Organizers section.
  8. In the Organizers section, click New.
  9. Type a Name (for example, Material) and from the Attribute drop down, pick the material attribute (for example, PM_EXT_Material).
  10. In this example, if you are interested in only a specific material in the user defined group, select a condition and in the text field, enter the type of material you want to include in the user defined group. For example, if you want carbon steel material, in the condition field select = and in the text field, enter the value used for carbon steel ("cs" for example).
Note: Currently, when you enter text in the condition text field, you need to wrap it in single quotes. The quote marks disappear once you save. (This issue will be addressed in a future version.)

Group unmatched allows you to either include or not include records with non-matching values for the selected attribute, and assign an Organizer name. If this checkbox is enabled, you will get all the non-matching values organized under a folder named as the text entered into the text field. If disabled, they are omitted.

  11. (Optional) Add additional items to the Organizers list (for example, BoreSize) as well as attributes (for example, PM_EXT_Material).
  12. Click Save.
  13. Synchronize your changes with ConstructSim Planner.
